Since 1992, Golden Leaf has been serving up authentic Chinese dishes that have made it both a neighborhood favorite and a treasured find for visitors to Kansas City. Running the kitchen and ensuring that all guests in his restaurant are delighted, is founding chef, Jing Chang. Originally from Shanghai, China, Chang developed an early interest in cooking while traveling the country’s vast landscape. “There were just so many flavors,

I had to try everything,” quips Chang about his early experiences. This love of food prompted him to study from great chefs around the country and then relocate to the United States in 1981, to formally start his culinary career. Chang spent over 10 years cooking in some of the most renowned Chinese restaurants in the United States before fulfilling his dream of opening his own restaurant in 1992. With Golden Leaf, Chang is able to bring his unique and bold flavors to the table, giving people the opportunity to experience Chinese food in an entirely different way.
